Fingers Typing
By Tristan Cheung
Fingers typing
Hands swiping
People liking
Pressure building.
Keys clacking
Eyes reading
Mouth moving
Always checking.
Corner lurking
Opportunity spreading
A snap of thought-
It’s off.
The viral trend flies around Earth
Looking in a perfect search
No such thing as a need for speed
When people don’t heed.
The viral trend flies
The likes grow high
Yet no one stops to ask;
“Why are we doing this?”
The scientists see the risks fast-
But their utters are dismissed as sass.
They see what others do not
A fine worth quite a lot
The effects hit
The trend sits
Everyone stops
And suddenly, scream.
Wards moving
People lining
Eyes blinking
Waiting to be treated.
The panic dies
The world rests
Yet always checking-
History repeats.
