How to handle friendship problems

By Charisse Chan

1. Self love 💞

Understand yourself. Why don’t you have friends that care about you? Why do you have friends that laugh when you're obviously hurt? If you can forgive them, give them a second chance and work on the friendship, but it’s also okay to let go or have a break!

 2. Block them 🚫

If you are in a toxic relationship, having trust issues, and are being treated rudely, then you should block them for a while to cool down (on Instagram, messages etc. and in real life) so there is no way they can reach you. You can unfollow them and remove them from your account -- just forget about them and have a break.

3. Don’t talk to them 🤭

If someone is making you feel sad why would you want to talk to them? When they say mean things about you, just ignore them, so they know you have no reaction to their hate and will most likely stop.

4. Talk it out 💬

If you feel like talking to them you can try explaining the things they do that make you uncomfortable. If they laugh at it and think it doesn’t really matter then it is probably a sign you should leave them. If more than one “friend” is bullying you, it probably means they like your toxic friend more. If that happens, just ditch your friend group, even if you have no other close friends. To be honest, I’d rather have no friends than friends who treat me badly.

5. Let go 💘

Try not to get attached to them, so when they try to “ruin” the friendship you can know that it’s ok not to be friends with them anymore, I can relate a lot and I’ve had to let go to many of my friends but I don’t mind because they are mean to me anyway. If someone who is friends with your “friends” or they are okay with your “friends” and they ask you why you hate them / don’t like them, DON’T tell them why. Honestly when I get asked that it’s one of the most annoying things ever. So don't ask me that or basically anyone else who has read this article.

6. Treat yourself 🛍

Lastly when you’ve finally gotten over the relationship you can do things you like for example ; making new friends to hangout with, shopping, playing your favourite songs, eating your favourite snacks etc. And remember there’s always someone who's there for you to treat you and give you a makeover and just talk about things you enjoy. Or, since there is corona, you can Facetime, instead of physically hanging out.
