Crazy for Christmas: what is Year 6 looking forward to?
By Jazlyn Lam
Christmas. The holiday everybody’s looking forward to - except maybe grumpy people.
We all know that Christmas is a holiday with presents and family time, but what are others looking forward to this holiday? With Covid-19 cases increasing, how will families celebrate this Christmas?
A survey of Year 6 students revealed a wide array of hopes and plans.
Somebody from 6JF looks forward to having their broken arm fully healed by Christmas! Ooh, I can already imagine how painful getting it broken would’ve been!
Another student from 6JF is looking forward to hiking for their dad’s birthday! Happy birthday!
Like me, somebody from 6RL is looking forward to decorating the house!
Another lucky duck from 6RL will be going to Taiwan or China if the number of COVID cases get less severe!
Again, a student from 6RL hopes that Covid will be gone so she can visit the UK! (How many lucky ducks are there in 6RL?!)
I bet everybody shares the same sentiments as this 6RL student who looks forward to Boxing Day! I hope that the present you wanted for a very long time will be under your Christmas tree at home!
And we all know Christmas can be chilly, so this person from 6RL is looking forward to drinking hot chocolate to warm them down in freezing weather!
Somebody in 6SM is looking forward to visiting their relatives all the way in England! Wow! Tell them I said hello!
Somebody from 6RM is going to be meeting his friend a few times before he moves to Canada! I wish his friend a good school and life in Canada, and I’m sure all your friends will miss you.
Somebody from 6RL looks forward to going on a staycation! Ooh, fancy! They’re also looking forward to sleeping in and finishing their novel! Is it good? I hope so.
And somebody from 6BL is looking forward to learning how to finish a 3x3 Rubix Cube (I can’t even finish a 2x2 cube!)
Everyone knows that this Christmas will be different from any other Christmas in their lives. You won’t be going on vacation with your family or visiting Disneyland with a huge group of friends. You might not even get to go on a staycation!
This Christmas, you’ll probably have to stay home due to the pandemic. But we can get through this together. Let’s hope that next Christmas will be a good one, one where we can go on holiday with lots of friends without masks and having to stay 1.5 meters away from each other.
