Championship Clubs Struggle to Handle the PL Heat

The premier league 23/24 season commenced just a few weeks ago, however new premier league fans are being enraged by the streak of losses. Every season, 3 teams from the second highest football league in England are promoted, to enter the top tier of English football. In order to move up, the team has to triumph in the EFL Championship competition, and/or place top two in EFL League one. 

This season, we saw former Prem clubs. Everton and Sheffield United marking their return to EPL. Luton town, who unexpectedly defeated the odds when Conventry’s Dabo couldn’t convert the gamebreaker penalty, in the 2023 championship finals. 

Unfortunately, the happy mood of the dressing room must have been terminated when all three teams took their third defeat in the fourth gameweek of the 23/24 season. Furthermore, Burnley took a crushing 5-2 defeat from the Spurs after their Korean magician scored a brilliant hattrick. Burnley’s aggressive play; 15 fouls and four yellow cards could not translate to a stable defence which could contain Son Heung-Ming, who bagged three swift and effortless goals from inside the box. 


Will these contemporary teams settle in and bounce back from this shaky start, or will they keep hovering over relegation spot?

The Clarets (Burnley) play Nottingham Forest on the 19th, the last game day of GW5. Will Burnley F.C. seize their first Premier League victory since 2022?  


Nonetheless, game week 4 offered an endless section of goals and assists. Apart from Son, the almighty Erling Haaland alongside Brighton’s Evan Ferguson managed to secure the victory for their respectful side with entertaining hat-tricks.
