Obituary of a Rock: Goodbye Ed the Head

By Casee Ng

It is with great sadness that I, Casee Ng from Ms. Houghton’s Year 11 drama class, announce the sudden passing of Ed the Head. Ed the head passed on the 5th of September, 2024 due to an accident in a drama performance, where he fell at a height of 3 full height connecting tables.

Ed had no other biological family members, as he was a head sculpture with no genitalia, though you could say that we were a part of his big family of drama students.

Ed was a respected mentor and beloved friend to my class. He was known for his silent yet comforting presence, and his ability to generate ideas in our minds. His porcelain stare invoked inspiration in us all, and my class and I will forever cherish the happy times we had together. Ed’s memory will continue to inspire us as we reflect on the wonderful memories we shared.

A personal memory that I had of him was when we were first introduced to him, Ms. Houghton introduced him as someone who would give you ideas when you stared into his soulless eyes. I thought of him as a god, the god of inspiration, if you will. From that day forth, I looked forward to looking into his eyes and seeing his abilities for myself. Unfortunately, he passed before I got a chance to.

Ed may have been a head bust, but he was the best companion we have ever had. His memory will live on inside of us, as we continue on with our lives performing shows in front of our class, his memory stays with us forever.
