Who is "Sticker"?

By Karmen Tsai

Who’s in this picture? It’s NCT 127! The second sub-unit of internationally renowned Korean boy band NCT, signed under SM Entertainment.

On June 28 2021 SM entertainment released a presentation regarding the future plans of their company and their artists, they announced that NCT 127 would not only have a fanmeet for their 5th anniversary but would be releasing a studio album along with a repackaged album afterwards. The news excited many NCTzens (the fandom name for NCT fans) who couldn’t wait to see what was next for NCT 127.

As promised, on September 17 the nine members of NCT 127: Moon Taeil, Suh Johnny, Lee Taeyong, Nakamoto Yuta, Kim Doyoung, Jeong Jaehyun, Kim Jungwoo, Lee Mark and Lee Haechan, released their third official full-length album “Sticker” – excluding their Japanese studio album “Awaken”.

The album “Sticker” lasts a total of 38 minutes and 46 seconds, it includes eleven songs: Sticker, Lemonade, Breakfast, Focus, The Rainy Night, Far, Bring the Noize, Magic Carpet Ride, Road Trip, Dreamer and Promise You. The songs are of various genres: if you don’t like pop songs you can listen to Magic Carpet Ride, if you don’t like ballad songs you can listen to Lemonade.

Their aptly named title track Sticker sticks in your head with its unforgettable rhythm and melody. The song was written and composed by a hitmaker called Youngjin Yoo along with Dem Jointz, Mark and Taeyong from NCT 127 themselves, with lyrics describing the intimacy and inseparability of two people. The hip hop-inspired song includes rhythmic vocals, a punching baseline and an addictive sound created by the flute, which is the song’s most unique feature. “Sticker” is the best song to dance to when ending the week.

After a few days of availability for pre-order, NCT 127’s album “Sticker” already exceeded over 1,329,000 pre-orders. It was last reported that they were the first SM entertainment artists to have surpassed 2.12 million pre-orders.

Please look forward to their repackage “Favorite” that will be coming out on October 25.
